Favorite thing: There are two smaller towns in Northern Lithuania, famous for cheese and beer. If you connect two of these products you get quite nice regale. So, there are excursions organized as well, first to degustate cheese in Rokiskis, later to end up with beer in Birzai (about 65 km away) :)
Cheese in Rokiskis is produced by famous “Rokiskio suris”, also making nice youghurts, curd, so on. Degustation could be booked in Rokiskis land museum (in Tyzenhaus palace).
Favorite thing: After sightseeing of Rokiskis it is easy to see that all main interesting places are located in one line – the Nepriklausomybes square, when the park with Tyzenhaus manor, connecting square. One end of line is St. Matthias church, other one – palace. It is a story, that owner of palace wanted easily to get to church mass, so after such territory planning he could easily see church from his palace, hear bells of masses and drive to the church by his carriage.
I hardly remember any other place, planned in such way (as for February, 2011) : )
