Champions 2016

In 2016 PSV became National Champion again, after the successful title race in 2015 PSV continued the success in 2016! In the last match they passed Ajax, who played an unexpected draw at De Graafschap. PSV beated PEC Zwolle by 3-1 and surpricingly won the championship. The party started the same day, but as the championship wasn't expected any more the tour through Eindhoven was held the day after.

Nice ground and the home fans generated a good atmosphere. A friendly bunch as well. There are 2 club shops one on each side of the ground selling PSV merchandise.

Our seats were in the back row of the upper tier so it was quite a climb and too far to return to the bar at half time for a drink. When we got to the bar after the game it took forever to get served and then I had to abandon the drinks I had bought or risk missing the coach. Thankfully I managed a few mouthfuls otherwise I think I may have passed out through dehydration as it had been so hot!

Don't know if they allow you to take drinks of your own into the ground but I suspect not.

PSV Eindhoven

The Phillips Stadium is a nice compact European stadium. The stadium can accommodate 35,200 people on match days.

The only problem I had with it was the netting that they had which slightly obscured the pitch. I not sure if it was protecting us from the ball or the pitch from flying missiles...not that I would throw any.

A stadium where every professional wants to play

The Philips stadium as it exists today was constructed between 1987 and 2002. The total design was made by engineering company DHV, except for the upper part of the four corners. The stadium is property of PSV Eindhoven, which is exceptional as PSV is the only football team in The Netherlands (and one of the very few in the world) that actually owns its stadium. PSV is 19 times Dutch master and has been dominating Dutch football since the mid nineteeneighties. PSV is also the reigning master and celebrated its 5th title of this new century in 2006 (!).
The Philips stadium has a capacity of 36,500 seats. For home matches of PSV Eindhoven it is hard to get tickets, though not impossible. Contact tickets sales and tell them that you're a foreigner and want to visit a match.

Equipment As the stages are very close to the pitch, almost all seats have an excellent view. One of the very good things is that all fences have been removed mid 2005. Consequence is that pentalties for those who (try to) enter the pitch are very high. Another good thing is that the whole stadium is heated with gas-fired heaters mounted to the roof construction (yes, it's safe). If you're thirsty or hungry, bring enough money as prices are pretty high.

PSV Eindhoven

One of Netherlands top teams, Very modern and comfortable stadium (heated in winter) in the centre of the city.
Saw a game against Heracles of Almelo, a 1-0 home win, not a great game but a deserved win for PSV.

Above the entrance it says "eendracht maakt macht" My posting on the forum asking for a translation brought many replies and thanks to all who did.
