Atlas is a shop that only sells Travel Books and Maps. But if you think that makes for a very limites choice, you could be surprised. The store is totally packed with books. If you need any info on any place in the world this IS the place to go. And it's not even more expensive than in other bookshops.
What to buy: Of course you're here to buy travel books.
What to pay: Normally some 20 to 30 Euros. But there are a lot of sales and cheaper books as well.
Address: Nieuwlandstraat 16
Directions: Walk from the end of the city center (at the shop called It's) towards the Train Station.

All main shops with whatever you need you can find at the 'Heuvelstraat' or very nearby. When you are at the Heuvel you can walk down the Heuvelstraat. There are some new shopping centres or malls like the 'Emma passage' (near the Town Hall), but I'm sure you will notice. But make sure to check some of the little shops in the side streets. Cannot say the 'Heuvelstraat' is very special. It's just a shopping street where you can buy anything you need and you will find the same in any larger town. But still enjoy.
Aad's Platenzaak is a much smaller shop than Tommy's. Strong point though are the prizes. Owner Aad imports CD's directly from the USA where they are much cheaper. You will not find many older titles here, mostly new ones, except for second-hand. But there's the occassional collector's item and especially when you like Prince (I don't) this is the shop for you. One problem with this shop; Aad has the extremely annoying habit of suddenly putting on a record much too loud.
One of the more famous products from Tilburg is this liquor of 21,5% that is based on 43 different spices. Try it at any bar or buy a bottle at one of the numerous shops that have it on sale. And don't even try to pronounce the name which is local dialect.
In this small shop you'll find a lot of cd's and records for reasonable prices. You will also find a lot of special pressings and limited editions here. The owner, Aad, brings these cd's from his trips around the world.
What to pay: Prices vary, but for the normal pressings you pay almost half of what you'd pay in other stores.
