Favorite thing ... start with an extensive tour of the city. You can do this by bike, by boat or by foot. Or you can take the Holland Experience. This is a 30-minute 3D video tour of Holland that you can watch sitting in a airplane seat on a moving platform. I haven't done this my self, but it looks and sounds as a great way to start your trip!
Favorite thing Is a a big movie theater just a few meters from rembrandts square..
You can eat in a restaurant nearby and take a ticket for the hootest films and after the film you can enjoy the night life of Rembrandts square..
Favorite thing Well my friend and went to Europe right in the middle of the war so we had our alternate identities planned out. We decided we would tell any anti-American folks that we were from Canada-HAHA! We were coming through the Rembrandtplein one evening and we heard shouting and we took off towards our Hotel as we were afraid it wasa anti-war demonstration. We found a police officer and asked him what was going on...he said it was a football championship!! So we laughed it off and headed towards Muntplein and then saw more police moving crowds off the street and putting rails up in front of the Tuschinski Theater. We inquired once again and were told it was the movie premier for "Johnny English". We took a seat at coffee place and just watched the limos and "beautiful people" come for the premier. So long story short, here is a picture of the outside of theTuschinski. We went to see "Chicago" there the next day. It was an absolutely beautiful theater.
Favorite thing We decided to spend the afternoon walking around, souvenir-shopping and gaping around like the country bumpkins that we are. We went north on the Leidsestraat and wandered east, our turn-around point being the Tushcinski Theater, an art-deco movie theater built in 1921, thought by many to be the most beautiful in the world. The Queen goes to the movies here. We did not get inside to see a movie this time, maybe next time.
Fondest memory A great city for wandering, but get a good map!
