Te Huurne restaurant: Theme lunches here

by sandravdp Written Aug 30, 2006

You can sit outside on the terrace between te flowers watching children play on the playground in front of the terrace or with rain sit inside the restaurant with dimmed lights.

Favorite Dish: The fries with 'croquets' were good, but all together it's nothing special. You can get that anywhere. The theme lunches are nice. They had a French theme when I visited. Baguettes with brie & onion soup. Very nice.

The Ter Huurne Holland Markt is a supermarket at the Dutch-German border aimed at German customers. So, the main products are coffee, cheese, flowers and fish.
The shop had grown over the years from a small shop to a supermarket with separate bakery, medicines, flowers, fish and liquor shops. There also is a gas station with car wash. All these businesses grew around the cafe-restaurant at the road side.

The shop was started by Henny ter Huurne in 1943 from his family home. In 1970 the shop became a Simon de Wit supermarket, that turned into an Albert Heijn supermarket till 2001.

    Shopping hours:
    Mo: 11AM - 6PM
    Tu-Fr: 9AM - 6PM
    Sa: 9AM - 5PM
    Su: 10AM - 5PM

    What to buy: Dutch products.

What to pay: Less for some interesting deals or for products in larger quantities.

    The border

    by pieter_jan_v Written Jul 19, 2014

Favorite thing: Since the start of the European Union and the Schengen treat thereafter, the inner borders are open.
At Buurse there still is a barrier, but it is in the open position.
