    Bergen Things to Do

A little behind the iconic warehouses begins the old town of Bergen. All the small streets with white houses are wonderful. I noticed that most of them are paved, just as in my home city Plovdiv. Interesting paintings on the walls diversify visitors. Even the small table with flowers in front of one house was really charming in the sunny winter...

The picturesque and lively Fish Market in Bergen is one of Norway's most visited outdoors markets and has a charming location in the heart of the city between the fjords and Bergen's 7 mountains. The Fish Market also sells fruit, fish, vegetables, flowers, handicrafts and souvenirs. The crabs, raw oysters and boiled shrimp were so fresh and...

    Bergen Things to Do

The tour of the Hanseatic Museum was fascinating for a history buff like me but others will find it interesting as well. I learned our guide that the dialect of Norwegian spoken in Bergen is different than other parts of Norway due in part to the Hanseatic and Danish influence that was more profound in Bergen. the Museum gave a great perspective of...

    4.5 out of 5 stars

    Bergen Things to Do

The fjord from the North Sea into Bergen is a beautiful one and should not be missed. Be on deck in order to enjoy the cruise, best at the end of the day when there is a lot of activity in the harbor and fjord. In our case, the ship was the Holland American Line Prinsendam which has many viewing areas and can easily clear the bridges into Bergen.

    4 out of 5 stars

    Bergen Things to Do

This church was closed for restoration when we walked over to it from the Rosenkrantz tower residence. It was built in the early 12th century and is an example of Romanesque architecture. While the exterior is interesting due to the roofline and shapes, interiors of the old churches are nice due to the art. This is a small church that can be walked...

  • Mount Ulriken

    4.5 out of 5 stars

    Bergen Things to Do

Bergen is surrounded by seven hills/mountains, of which Mt. Ulriken is the highest one. One can go by a nice cable car up, but there are also many paths for those who want to make it on their own and walk/hike all the way up. Up on the hill there is no restaurant; in that sense Mt. Floyen was nicer place. It also had more places to sit and watch...
