A Testament to History: Slagen Church
Slagen Church, a brick structure completed in 1901, stands as a significant landmark in Tønsberg, Norway.
Originally, a medieval church existed on this site but was destroyed by fire in 1898. The current church boasts two steeples and is distinguished by an organ built in 1972, featuring 32 pipes and recognized as the finest concert organ in the region. Notably, a unique late medieval triptych altar piece from around 1480, depicting St. Ursula's journey to Rome, has historical significance, although it now resides in the University Museum of Antiquities in Oslo. Additionally, the cemetery includes the grave of prominent local artist Sven Jørgensen.
