The rather unprepossessing door in this picture leads to a total gem of a place, a "find" I am really keen to pass on to other VTer's.
This restaurant is absolutely brilliant and by Western standards ludicrously inexpensive.
A large restaurant gives way to the very pleasant little courtyard (covered with huge umbrellas), which is recommended if you can get a table.
Cuisine is local, very well prepared and served by friendly, attentive but not intrusive staff, at least some of whom speak English. English menus are available.
The fish dishes seem very expensive compared to the others, but perhaps that's to be expected in a land-locked country.
In a city almost over-flowing with very good quality restaurants, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Even if you're on a tight budget, treat yourself to a splurge here, you will not regret it.

Favorite Dish The house speciality for one. It consists of pork, chicken and smoked bacon (apparently a local Macedonian speciality) in a sweet pepper and mushroom sauce, served in an earthenware dish - absolutely delicious. The former Mrs. planxty, with whom I dined there, also declared herself extremely satisfied with the fillet steak in mushroom sauce which was cooked exactly as she had ordered.
The salads we had for starters were also very tasty but, be warned, they are huge. As a starter, one salad shared between two would be ample.
The warm pizza bread which was served first was also beautiful, complementing the cold Skopske beer wonderfully well.
