Located in the Catherine Palace, the Amber Room was constructed in the 18th century as a royal chamber. Originally intended for the Charlottenburg Palace in Prussia, it became a symbol of opulence.
Designed by Andreas Schlüter and completed by artisans, the room boasts over 6 tonnes of amber and intricate designs over 55 square meters. It was dismantled during WWII and lost, leading to an extensive reconstruction that started in 1979 and was completed in 2003.
