Hiking Tips (2)

Hiking Agost - Puerto del Maigmó (Alicante)

22 kilometres long walk from Agost to el Puerto de Maigmó, easy level - tunels on the path so good idea to bring an electric torch (sorry - don't know what a little lamp/light that you have in your hand is called!)
The area is full of mountains and although it is not a flowering natureside, the area is quite dry - but still it is a beautiful route to hike on, and the tunels - that was built for a train that never ran here - makes it more interesting when entering in the total darkness!

Hiking at the "pantano de Tibi"

Tibi is a small village near Alicante, and the mountains surrounding the place are perfect for an afternoon hiking trip. I went with a group of friends to "el pantano" where we enjoyed a warm september afternoon in the mountains.

The construction of "El pantano de Tibi" was begun on the 17th of Agost 1580 and finished in 1595 with the permision of Felipe II. The project was idea of Cno Izquierdo, he made studies about the project of constructing a wall between Mos del Bou and Cresta for in that way to be able to detain the water from the río verde and use this water in the dry times a year.

Tibi is located about 29 km from Alicante in direction north-west, to see a map check out Google maps, eg.: GoogleMaps Alicante-Tibi
