The Roman Walls of Lugo are one of the best-preserved examples of Roman fortifications in Europe.
Built in the 3rd century AD, the walls stretch approximately 2.2 kilometers around the Old Town, standing 15 meters high and featuring 85 stout towers. Historically, they served to protect Lugo from invasions, although they eventually failed against the Suevi in 460 AD.
