Åhlens Tips (5)

?hlens: "The big three"

There are three big important department stores in central Stockholm and if you really want to get to know the city, you at least have to go in and have a look around.

Ahlens has clothes with their own label and their is a nice selection of glassware. Downstairs in the basement there is a supermarket.
Open 10 AM - 7 PM Monday through Saturday and 11 AM - 6 PM on Sundays. They have their own website at www.ahlens.com, but the website is only in Swedish.

The "NK" (Nordiska Kompaniet--Nordic Company) department store is HUGE and has a great selection of Swedish handicrafts and also chocolate (yum!). This is also a good place to look for books in English. Also a supermarket in the basement. Open 10 AM - 7 PM Monday through Friday, 10 AM - 5 PM on Saturday, and noon to 5 PM on Sunday. There are different hours in June and July. Their website is also only in Swedish.

The other department store is called "Pub", which is a smaller version of the other two. Open 10 AM - 7 PM Monday through Friday, 10 AM - 5 PM on Saturday, and noon to 5 PM on Sunday.

Åhlens: Normal sized mannequins!

Åhlens (pronounced Oh-lance), is a well known department store, just 5 minutes from the Scandic Sergel Plaza and on the corner of a long shopping street.
I was delighted to see this mannequin with a size that is more like the overall woman.

Åhlens City: Åhlens around Christmas

Åhlens City is the main department store in Stockholm city. Here you can find everything from clothes, to books. And check out their very large DVD-movie department in the floor two levels above ground.

Around Christmas Åhlens is a good place for finding cheap and good gifts to every one in the family and most friends.

Ahlen Shopping Plaza: Swedish Souvenirs

It has got everything ! This is the front view of the store. When you will come out of the T- Centralen t-bana station you will see this in front of you OR you will come out exactly on the next side of the road in front of the entrance door of Ahlen city. The prices are reasonable here as well so you can try this store.

What to buy Depends on your budget and choice !

What to pay As less Swedish Kronor as you can ;-)
