Planet Hollywood Tips (8)

Planet Hollywood: Planet Hollywood London Style

We had not really planned on eating here but as we passed on the street we were handed a coupon for buy one main course get one free so we decided to go for it. This is a typical Planet hollywood full of Hollywood funand memorabilia. A 12-screen plasma wall & live DJ set interact to take dinners to the extravagant world of Hollywood. The night we popped in the place was hopping. There were several groups of schools there and all kinds of stuff going on around us. If you want to have a nice quiet evening this is not where to go. But if you do go you have to take a trip into the bathroom. Very good service in there! :)I will warn any one with a disabilty if you are going to eat here be sure to ask about the lift or you will be forced to walk up a very spiral staircase.

Favorite Dish We both ordered typical steak dinners with baked potatoes and salad. It was cooked well and tasted good so we have no complaints. Cheescake for desert was good also.

Planet Hollywood: A Taste of Hollywood

Right on the heels of multi-national food chain Hard Rock Cafe, comes the Planet Hollywood franchise, which has used big stars like Sylvester Stallone and Brittney Spears to market to the large urban tourist scene.

Another installment of this famed franchise is in London, dangerously close to Picadilly Circus, which has carnies everywhere shaking in their boots.

I am not a huge fan of this franchise, but like a moth to a flame, I seem to dump my tourist dollars on a drink there... and always end up adding space to my digital camera on it!

Favorite Dish The drinks.... i went English and had a "Crown" and coke.

Planet Hollywood London: Parking cars & pumping gas.......

Updated 24.02.2009 - Just been informed the restaurant is relocating to open Spring 2009 at
57-60 Haymarket, St Albans House, London SW1Y 4QX tel 020 7439 7639

Whereas the Hard Rock Cafe chain started in London in 1971 and got exported, continuing to grow, the USA took Planet Hollywood to London. Certainly outside of the USA, it is a bit of a sinking ship, with most of its overseas outlets now closed, e.g. Rome closed end 2003.

BE AWARE a 'discretionary' 12.5% service charge is added to your bill - a little more than £10 /US$18 for 2 on this occasion. It is up to your 'discretion' to decline to pay it ! I asked our waitress if staff got the service charge - they 'get to keep a bit of it'!! Well, Bruce Willis et al, when you bring the beers, you can have your service charge. I cancelled it and 'discreetly' handed the waitress £10 in cash.

Favorite Dish Grilled Swordfish in a pineaple and red pepper salsa at £14.50

Pecan Pie at £6.45

Pint Kronenbourg 1664 at £3.45

The miserable multi millionaire owner could make the place a lot better - one to do to check it out really , then you've done it. Loved the swordfish but would honestly hav preferred to eat it somewhere else !

Planet Hollywood: Planet Hollywood

The quesues cn be very long so get there early. The food is not particularly outstanding, Burgers and Sandwiches. The Cooldrinks are bottomless. The restaurant is decorated with movie props and memorabilia. I'm not quite sure whoc owns it noe but it was a parnership between Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Stallone.

Planet Hollywood: Planet Hollywood

%The problem with Planet Hollywood is that there is always a large queue but you can while your time away in the cocktail bar.
There is a comprehensive but expensive souvenir shop on the ground floor selling Planet Hollywood branded products.

Favorite Dish It all looks so good and what I had tasted good as well but I cant remember what it was.

If you're a James Bond fan like me you'll going to enjoy this place. It's packed with Bond guns, costumes & gadgets, the most impressive of all is 'little Nelly' from you only live twice which hangs above your head.
You can also see Han Solo from Star Wars in his carbon prison!

Favorite Dish Club sandwich
