Update April 2014: RESTAURANT NOW CLOSED - REVEIW LEFT FOR MY RECORDS
I visited this restaurant recently for the first time, as part of a mini VT-meeting. It’s a casual bustling place decorated in the slightly over-the-top style of a cosy traditional trattoria. The cuisine is also comfortingly traditional, with pizzas on authentically thin bases and pasta cooked al dente and served with simple sauces. If you want something different though, there are several meat and fish dishes, such as thyme and garlic roasted chicken, marinated oven-baked seabass and Scallopine all Milanese.
Favorite Dish We shared some olives, tasty rosemary and garlic bread, and a mozzarella and tomato salad to start with. My main course of penne all’ arrabbiata was very good – the pasta cooked just right and the sauce spicy and rich. I also had a rocket and parmesan salad, which was generous in size and nicely dressed.
Prices are reasonable for this part of town (pasta dishes around the £10 mark, pizzas a little less, meat and fish dishes a little more. There’s also an “early bird” special (before 7.00 pm) which offers two courses for just £7.95 – excellent value for central London, though the choices are admittedly limited.
