    Barleycorn: Gifts and more

by Kettleman Updated May 9, 2008

More than just a gift and card shop, Barleycorn is a cut above the usual experience in this area as it has many other items from around the world that set it aside from the tacky gift shops that are seen in most seaside towns.

UPDATE: From April 1st 2008 the shop is under new management and is now called "Barley Mow".

What to buy: Costume jewellery as well as cards and other gifts

    Address: 76 High Street, Hythe, CT21 5AL

    Griggs: Fresh Fish?

by Kettleman Updated Jan 2, 2007

Less of a shop than a small warehouse unit where the fish from the local inshore fishng boats comes in to be sold.

You need to be quick as much of the catch is destined for London restaurants and some is even taken to France for their restaurants.

    What to buy: Fish!

Address: The Fisherman’s Landing Beach, Range Road.

Directions: Range road is off St Leonard's Road. From the town centre it is a short walk/drive over the canal on Stade Street and then immediately right, 2nd left into St Leonards and past the British Legion then right!
