Luggage and bags: Either take a wheeled trolley case or holdall, if you don`t have a rucksack since the hills are super-steep. Do take a small backpack with you for any walks / climbs / sailings / tours / horse riding.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Sturdy walking shoes/boots are a must as are wellies. Don`t do as I did and take a pair of heels for one night, since it is impossible to walk up the extremely steep hills of Tobermory in even 3" block heels! Take a waterproof, hooded coat/jacket and any other waterproof clothes you can.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Don`t take midge repellant, since it`s on sale on the Isle of Mull and it works brilliantly.
Photo Equipment: I`d recommend taking the best quality camera you can, since there is amazing scenery and you`ll be taking lots of photos. Also, take a high capacity memory card, since there is only one place (the pharmacy on Tobermory`s main street) to print off photos, and it`s very expensive (3/4 times what you pay on the mainland). It is useful if you have a smaller point and shoot camera if you`re planning on taking photos while horse-riding, ets.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Take towels and blankets if you plan on visiting Calgary bay, since the sea is just irresistable! There is clear signage explaining where wild camping is allowed since it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Miscellaneous: The views on Mull are beautiful (wildlife including Deer, Whales, Dolphins as well as the Highland Cattle that you may bump into on the roads, Mountains, Calgary Bay, the colourful buildings in Tobermory all scream `take a photo`). Sailing, Climbing,Wildlife tours, Fishing, Whisky tourism, History and much more is there for the taking on the Isle of Mull.
