Hiking to Narikela Fortress Tips (1)

Narikela Fortress , dominating the Tbilisi Skyline

The Narikela Fortress is a 4th century fortress dating back to Persian times.
A few centuries later the Arab emirs built a palace inside. It was fought over, captured and recaptured in the next few hundred years by Georgians, Turks , Persians. Lastly a Russian bimb exploded in early 20th century and have blasted parts of the fort. It was later rebuilt and partially restored.

The easiest way to reach Narikela Fortress is by a hike downwards from Mother Georgia statue. You can reach Mother Georgia statue by a cable car.

The fort is impressive, has a church inside. It gives fantastic views of the city.
There are no food , or drink options here. Please carry your water. There is a public toilet/ washroom , which is pretty smelly and costs 0.50 GEL per person.
