It is located in the Avenues Mall, at the 5th Ring Road, New Riggae Area. It is one of the biggest department stores in Kuwait with the cheaper prices on the food and clothes items. It has the best deal for the cell phone during the special offer time. It has more cashiers so you will not be trapped in a long line. The other convenient thing to shop in the Carrefour is it is easy to reach the indoor parking lot with your shopping trolley.

Marina Mall is located at the Arabic Gulf Street at Salmiya area. Its interior design is one of the best ones for the malls. You may dine in at the Crescent side, can be reached by a bridge in front of Harley Davidson stand, at the book section of Virgin Megastore. See my things to do tips: Marina Crescent Side. There are more options for the food courts on the third floor. It has many fashion stores on the second floor, and the parking place will be on the ground floor.

by pangtidor Written Apr 28, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Avenues is the biggest mall of Kuwait for now, located at the intersection of 5th Ring Road and Gazali Street. Wear the comfortable shoes because this mall is huge, you may spend more hours inside. All of the international brand fashion stores will be available here and during the sale season the discount may reach to 75-80%. Many great restaurants located near the entrance and at the second floor. It has Carrefour for groceries and IKEA for the budget furniture. The cinema is the best in Kuwait and the parking lot is the biggest among the malls. The mall will be opened from 10AM to 1PM and 0430PM to 10PM and up to midnight during the weekend.

It is located on The Tunis Street, Hawally area, at the back of Hawally Park. Some used to call it as The Titanic Mall because the shape of this mall looks like a deck of the boat. It has many fitness centers on the top, good cafes, and some good brand stores. Good place to visit during the sale time because the place will not be too crowded like other malls.

    Traditional gifts and souvenirs

It is nice to take home shisha pipes, arabian perfumes and incense and large brass coffee pots can be bought at the Friday Market. You can also have a custom made necklace with your name in arabic - the souq opp. Marina Mall made me one - best to get a rhodium plated necklace to go on it though as mine tarnished very quickly (as it was silver). Dates are excellent from Bateel (just outside Marina Mall - opp. Samsonite) but they are expensive.

What to pay: Bargain at the market

It is one of the best bookstores in Kuwait, located in Hawaly area on Tunis Street within the Hawaly Park. It is not only the bookstore, but also the place where you can get more options for stationery, school stuff for your kids, as well as the computers’. You may see some computer stores within Hawally area with the cheaper prices, but you will not get the same good assistance from their staff with the better customer services for any complains you may have.

The Avenues: Kuwait's Newest Shopping Centre

    by MM212 Updated May 22, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Kuwait's latest addition to its shopping mall menu, The Avenues, is also its largest. In fact it is so large that it contains two Starbucks coffee shops! My preference, though, would be to have coffee and the more elegant Paul or le Pain Quotidien, both of which are present at The Avenues. The enormous shopping centre offers a wide selection of mid-range shops, such as Zara, Next, Debenhams or Ikea, with plenty more yet to open. Carrefour, the French supermarket chain, is attached to The Avenues. Bring your comfortable walking shoes!

  • LULU HYPERMARKET: A Real Hypermarket

by pangtidor Updated Mar 31, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

It is a chain hypermarket of LULU, other than the ones in UAE,Oman,Qatar,KSA,Bahrain,Sudan and Yemen. There was a smaller LULU hypermarket in Fahaheel area but the one in Shuwaikh area is much bigger, newly opened in March 2007. Many items will be cheaper than any other supermarkets in Kuwait. Many varieties of vegetables, fruit, and spices will be available here. You may enjoy and take away the prepared food (Indian and oriental) while you do shopping. The hypermarket has two floors, the first one is the groceries hall and the second one will be the fashion-stationery-furniture-electronic-etc items. It is a big place to shop in, has many cashier counters, scale counters, and big coridors so you dont have to be worry of the crowd even on holiday time. It has a big parking area and may be reached by bus number 12. Photographs are strictly prohibited so I cant give you more pictures inside the Lulu hypermarket. Check the website.

What to buy: Groceries, clothes, electronics, stationery, etc.

What to pay: Cash or cards.

Souk Sharq & Marina: Pleasant Shopping Centre & Marina

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Located in the Sharq area of Kuwait City by the sea, Sharq Mall is a very pleasant shopping centre with a private Marina. Most of the shops are middle-of-the-range, such as Zara, Next and Debenhams, and its food court has every possible fast food chain possible! The Marina area is quite nice for a stroll and boat spotting, and has a good view of the skyscrapers of downtown Kuwait.

What to buy: I like Al-Boom, the Kuwaity sailing ships they have. Golden platted and packed beautifully in the box. You may see some other things, great handcrafts of Kuwaity`s life and history.

  • SHARQ MARKET/SHOUKH SHARQ: A MALL WITH BEAUTIFUL VIEWS

by pangtidor Updated Mar 15, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is the only mall which has the great views from all its corners so far for me. Check out the pictures. It is located on the arabian gulf road, right after the king palace (from the shuwaikh) or right after amiri hospital (from salmiya). You may spend all your day in here by shopping in the signatured brand fashion shops, dine in the restaurants/food court, watch movies in its cinema, chill out at the back of the mall`s beach, shore fishing at its beach, rent a boat for a quick ride to the sea, and groceries in the sultan center supermarket. It has some pharmacies, music stores, and a big parking lot too. Great for shopping even in the summer and sandstorm season. You may walk to the fish market from this mall. It will be crowded at the weekend (Wed-Thur-Frid) and holiday.

What to pay: You may pay in cash, credit cards or debit cards.

  • Mubarakia : Kuwait`s oldest market

by pangtidor Updated Feb 19, 2007

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Mubarakia Shouk is one of the Kuwait`s old shouq, still holds its traditional base on the open air atmosphere. This is the best place to practice your bargaining skill.:-))Do not be ashamed to ask for the special offer to everybody here. Most of the things will be available in this Shouq. From the fresh ones (fish, vegetables and fruit), dates, clothes, perfumes, fascinating arabic food to the money echange counters! You may see many antiques for the souvenirs, arabic gold, and a great Persian carpet market complex. All will be on reasonable price! Security reason won`t be an issue here.It would be quite dusty around parking area but generally it is clean. Dont try to go there in summer time if you can not tolerate the more than 28` C heat.:-))

What to buy: It will be the best place to buy Kuwaities` traditional dresses, handcrafts, dates, carpets, and gold for souvenirs. Many foreign currencies will be available in its money exchanges. Vegetable and fruit will be cheaper from supermarkets`.

What to pay: You may use credit cards for many clothes, money echanges, carpets, and gold stores.Cash in hand will be a must when you want to buy fruit, vegetable, and dates.
