Enroute to Bahia you must stop and see the cave painting in Catavina. There is a new museum and tourist center about 500m west of the actual cave painting site. All of the information guides to baja will advise you to look for a palapa. Nearly directly infront if the Cave there are the remains of what may have been a Palapa. In the remains there is a bum that will try to extort money from you claiming it to be a park fee. There is absolutely no mistaking this individual for a government official. He is flithy, even by bum standards, and his nails are painted black. The problem is: you must park your vehicle in a location where it will be out of site for approx 2 minutes of your hike. I told the bum "si tocas a mi camioneta, te voy a matar", and it seemed to work. For most VT member i'm sure this is too aggresive, so either appease him and give him a buck or leave someone to watch your vehicle. About two more kilometers east there is a police station on the north side of the road. If you run into problems, advise the police.
The coyotes are OK, they just make some noise at night....but scorpions be careful...girls watch the toilet when you go pee, scorpions like that place.
