Casa Maria: Casa Maria & Zen-Mar a magical experience!
One step inside Casa Maria and you know you’ve crossed the threshold into someplace magical. While the store specializes in tin mirrors from the State of Guanajuato, fine black pottery from Oaxaca, rugs and wall Hangings from the Oaxaca's Zapotec weavers, the real prize is the hundreds of Day of the Dead figurines in all sizes, shapes and price ranges.
For those unfamiliar with Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico which honors family members who have died. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars to pay tribute to the deceased, as well as the use of skull-like masks and figurines often decorated as well-dressed skeletons. Some people believe that possessing Day of the Dead items can bring good luck. We all came home with skeleton figurines, which are now prominently displayed in our living rooms and family rooms. Whether or not these bring us luck remains to be seen. Stay tuned.
Next door to Casa Maria is the Zen-Mar Gallery, which specializes in pre-Columbian masks, as well as figurines, wall hangings and other captivating items of Mexican folk-art. Both stores are friendly, helpful and a truly spectacular folk art find.

Tons of venders everywhere
At most resorts in Cabo the vendors are not allowed to go beyond a certain point near the resorts. Usually they will set up shop close by though so if you see something you like you can approach them. Remember to never pay the first price they say...bargain bargain bargain. You will find anything from blankets to sarrongs, teeshirts and other souveniers.Related to:

shop after 4pm
What to pay: There are large groups of tourists that come in on cruise ships every morning and leave again at 4pm. The vendors will drop the prices after the ship leaves.
However, if you find something that you like and want to buy it right away, tell them you'll come back after 4....if THEY know that YOU know, they'll lower their price!

There are many drug stores "Pharmacia" in Cabo and San Jose that sell prescription drugs over the counter at a fraction of the cost in the US and you don't have to have a prescription. The drugs are on shelves with large signs advertising what is available. Many of the prescription drugs were actually made in the US of A and Canada.
What to buy: Retin A in a tube for $10.
Viagra $21 a pill - really!
What to pay: I would say that most of the prescription drugs are at least 1/2 of what they are in the US.Add to your Trip Planner
