When I visited Alabama it was just for a pleasant retreat. I rented a fishing boat, and cruised up and down some of their great lakes. It was cheap and relaxing.

Ave Maria Grotto

Local Monk was inspired to build miniature replicas of famous places out of ordinary items (i.e light bulbs, toys , etc). Some of the replicas were of Jerusalem, Rome, etc.

Russell Cave National Monument

Archeological sight of early native American site. The site also has a very small museum. It's worth a stop if you are driving past but not worth going out of the way for.
