Favorite thing: In the winter we get a ton of snow! It's my first winter here and it's been a mild one by valdez standards. In the winter expect an average of 30 feet of snow. It's great for all of those outdoor activities like snowmobile races and skiing.
Fondest memory: We had a huge snowstorm over New Years. I read somewhere that we got 8 feet of snow that week, and the majority of it fell on New Years Eve/Day, something like 54 inches. You have to love it if you live here. It's so beautiful.

Fondest memory: Getting a head massage from this local. Well, maybe not so much a massage as a scratch! :-) This iguana belonged to the owner of a kayaking outfitter in town. I was there organizing a trip for my group and got to talking with the lady about her lizard since I myself have had iguanas in the past. She came right out and said it wasn't pooping right. ;) I asked what she fed it. She replied that it liked pizza!? I could understand why it was stuffed up. They usually eat plant matter, vegetables, and flowers but not pizza. I took it outside and fed it some dandelions. The woman asked me if I wanted to take it with me. I was tempted, but there was no way I could bring it around Alaska with me for 3 months and I know that not everyone who came on tour with me would have appreciated that. Anyway, once I got it eating right, it would have been pooping all over the upholstery! :-)
Favorite thing: the bus picked us up at Hilton Hotel at 12:00 pm
Fondest memory: the whole journey took about 6 hours.
Favorite thing: Visit Worthington Glacier and Thompson Pass. If you are driving into Valdez, you can't miss it.
Fondest memory: (Thompson Pass, Valdez)
Fondest memory: Not even close to your typical Alaskan animal, but a beautiful animal none-the-less. I can't believe it had been surviving on pizza!
