The construction work being done on Hwy 412/62 will be a great improvment in moving traffic to and from Norfork Lake but for the time being it can be a real pain.
The "speed traps" referred to by our other resident expert are not a matter of raising funds but an earnest effort to save lives. Hwy 101,which runs north/south from 62 and contains the smaller of the twin bridges has to it's credit several auto deaths in the last year. Excessive speed, alcohol consumption and deer are the main concerns.

    Ozark Speedtraps

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

As this town grows & feels the hunger for more revenue, more & more speedtraps are popping up. If someone driving towards you flashes their lights at you, it's a warning to watch out ahead (either for an accident or for a cop). I know there's usually a cop sitting on 16th street, and they hide around the Lake Norfork bridges fairly often, but they can be anywhere. So you've been warned - don't speed around these parts!
