Gardena Things to Do

  • Hustler Casino

A little bit of Vegas right here in Gardena. Though I've never been inside I once saw it in an episode of Angel. You know the show about the Vampire. How do I know it was this casino?....Well for all you wondering minds out there, I've never seen any other casino that looks like a block of swiss cheese with neon circle of course.

  • AMC 1 = Gardena Cinema

This place shows only one movie at a time. Hence the title, but if you're into that sorta thing then by all means check it out. I wouldn't really though when South Bay Galleria is probably a 10 minute drive away and they have at least 2 movies showing....haha (j/'s your full blown AMC).

Gardena Restaurants

  • Nice Japanese place

Great Japanese Curry place--The prices are very reasonable. The portions are very good and come with lots of rice. The food is very flavorful and the service is fast and friendly. All the curry dishes are top shelf.

  • Good Korean Tofu Curry Place

The restuarant is small and the staff is friendly. There are a lot of good Korean places in this area of Gardena, and I have to say this was one of the better places to choose from. I really liked the Vegetable combo tofu bowl. They bring it to you in a steaming bowl and ask if you want to add an egg. You also get rice and some side elements...

  • Ramen

The place is located in a Japanese store complex. From the outside, you can not see the name of the restaurant. You can't even see it once you're inside and looking at the menu. You'll see the restaurant by looking at the red sign on top of the restaurant door. And you'll see a wooden board with Japanese writings on it. The place itself is pretty...

  • Fried shrimp, shrimp kabob, cocktail...

No there's not really that many kinds of shrimp at this place, but their fried shrimp is really good. It's basically fried seafood, almost a fish and chips kind of place. Well the fried shrimp if you couldn't tell from the rest of this tip.

  • Terriyaki

Despite the name, I always come here for their beef terriyaki plate. It's soooo good. They also have burgers, chili burgers, and fries, but man that terriyaki is good. And....they have orange bang! Old school. You order outside at a window, but then you can go inside after and sit. Although there's not much seating. You eat on top of old school...

  • Peruvian and Chinese food

This place has both a Peruvian menu and a Chinese menu. The food was pretty good. My sister found it in an LA Times list of the best restaurants in Los Angeles. The place was small and clean. But the place had got a "B". I had the Arroz con Mariscos, which is saffron rice mixed with sea food. There was a healthy amount of squid, scallops, clams,...

Gardena Nightlife

  • The fame of Gardena

There was a sign in Gardena that says, "Welcome to Gardena, Home of the Hustler Casion." The sign's been gone for a few years now. I guess it's better than being know as "Home of the the Normandie Casino." Bet you might not know you can gamble in LA?Be careful as you leave... Over the last couple years the daily breeze reported a couple muggings...

  • Salsa Dancing on Friday Nights

On Fridays, El Pollo Inka is open for Salsa Dancing. If you come early, you can get instruction. It's a great place to meet people. The age of the crowd generally ranges from late 20s to 50s. There's a good mix of different types of people--college students, working professionals, dance afficionados etc. I met a 80 year old guy named Ernie from...

If your current health insurance doesn't cover you while your abroad, you should consider getting international travel insurance just in case something should go wrong.

Gardena Shopping

  • Imitation Forever21...but how can that...

I actually used to work here. It's like Forever 21 which is like H&M which is like....haha you get the picture. Basically it's those really trendy styles but for way lower prices. There's a bunch of these around Gardena so the rest probably won't need a description because they're basically like this one. You'll find your basic polos for 6 or 7...

  • 98cents.....take that 99 cent store

Actually they changed it last year or something so now they have items that are more than 98 cents. False advertisement! We should revolt! We don't want to spend our extra 50 cents on your 1.50 items. They sell a bunch of different things, you can find school supplies, beauty supplies, knitting supplies, gardening, vases, dishes, snacks, cooking...

  • Cool little Shop

Marukai is a cool little store that I recommend everyone checkout. My dad is somewhat of a pack rat, and I think this is his favorite store. Most things in this store are 98 cents. It's better than the "99 cents store" because the products they sell are alot better quality. 98 cents

Gardena Off The Beaten Path

  • Park Hopping

Forget the bars. Park hopping is what it's all about. There are so many little parks nestled around the city's neighborhoods it's an adventure just finding all of them. There's nothing extra special about them. Your average park, but it could be a relaxing for you or like a said...a mini adventure trying to spot all of them.

  • Farmer's Market

Upon my research of my town, I happened upon a nifty little site ... for the government. Apparently we have a Farmer's Market. Obviously I haven't checked it out, but for those who want to know it's at the Nakaoka center which is basically the community center (I used to take bat on, ballet, and jazz there).Location:Nakaoka Community Center1670...
