Universal Studios Tips (3)

Great Family fun

Last visited: August, 2010
Times visited: 1
Highlight: Waterworld show
I recommend Universal Studios for families with young teens and below.

Due to word of mouth from back home we had high expectations entering the gates of Universal Studios. Those expectations were not met. Universal Studios is more of a regular themepark with movie theme. The place is crowded with different 3 and 4D attractions and different shows such as waterworld or Terminator 2.

The world-wide known "studio tour" where you hop on a train too experience an earthquake in San Francisco or the flooding in a mexican village is also quite overrated. It´s an ok ride. You also get too see some famous movie sets such as the Shark, Psycho, War of the worlds and Wysteria lane (to my girlfriend´s delight).

Universal Studios was kind of a let down for me since it was more of a themepark than the studio tour I hade somehow expected. It´s great for kids, but for movie fanatics that want to go behind the scenes there are better options.

However, I guess Universal is the type of thing you just gotta go and see when in Hollywood regardless of it beeing a touristrap.

Two thumbs up
- Great for kids

Unique Suggestions When in Universal you should start out with the tour and also try too see as many shows as you can. I really liked the Waterworld show, however the others didn´t quite make the same impact on me.

Fun Alternatives For the movie fanatics I would truly recommend the Warner bros VIP tour or even the deluxe tour. On Warner bros you really get to go behind the scenes and see real movie sets up close.
Warner bros might be boring for the younger ones though.

If you ask me, this whole...

If you ask me, this whole place is a tourist trap (EXCLUDING Universal Studios, of course.... haha...)....!!! Yes, and it's definitely OVER-rated.

Moral of the story: DON'T believe everything you see in the movies/ TV....

The whole theme park Universal...

The whole theme park Universal Studions is a BIG tourist trap all by itself. But it's worth a visit anyway.
I can say that waiting in the queue to the E.T. ride it wasn't wourth the time.
