The Viper Room Tips (4)

The Viper Room: Famous nightclub

This world-famous club on the Strip has been king of the hill since it was first opened by actor Johnny Depp and co-owner Sal Jenco back in 1993. The intimate club is also known for unforgettable late-night surprise performances. Every Tuesday night, this live music hot spot hosts Atmosphere, featuring the sounds of trance, drum and bass, garage, techno, and hip-hop spun by an eclectic assemblage of DJs, MCs, and mix masters. On Mondays, a head-banging tribute to '80s metal/hard rock shakes the walls.

This club is also unfortunately famous because actor River Phoenix died there in 1993!

The Viper Room: The Viper Room is way overrated

Ok, so the Viper room is owned by a bunch of actors - Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt or something like that. That does NOT make this place cool. And so River Phoenix took too many drugs here and died out side. That still doesn't make this place cool. My friend's band played here one night and I bought tickets from him. I got there after he had finished playing and the guy at the entrance decided that I shouldn't be allowed in anymore unless I payed another $10 and that I did not deserve a refund. I talked to his manager and I got in, but it was still lame. Once inside I expected some underground music and a cool crowd. Well, I was wrong. They were playing the same old crap that every club/bar/radio station plays and the people there were the sort of people from LA who think that some club is cool just because it is owned by famous movies stars. The pizza place across the street is good for drunken munchies though.

Dress Code Dress Codes are stupid.

Viper-room.: Viper-room.

If you want to meet celebrities, this is the place.
At one night we met B-Real (Cypress Hill) and Dino (Fear Factory),while DJ Bobo (Cypress Hill, not the euro-popper from Germany) was behind the turntables.

The Viper Room

The Viper Room
The Viper room is my favorite out of all the LA night spots. Probably because it is so laid back you walk to the door nude and no one would notice. The Viper room is prone to surprises with bands such as The Counting Crows and Tom petty walking out on stage to perform an entire concert under surnames. Come on by on Friday night to shake your bootie to the disco stylins of Bootie Quake.
