The Norton Simon Museum is a nice little museum that won't take you all day to visit. I visited the museum some 40+ years ago when it was fairly new with my parents. So, to visit it once again was enlightening. They have some wonderful works by Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Manet, Rembrandt, Cezanne, Degas and Picasso to name a few. Lots of available free parking.
This museum has a beautiful intimate collection with a lovely japanese garden in back. They have a large collection of Rodin sculptures, plus a good collection
of impressionists and post impressionists. They have a very impressive Renaissance wing. My favorite painting in the Rennaissance exhibit is the flight into Egypt by Jacopo Bassano. Vivid colors and energetic composition make this an interesting painting. Look for it when you visit.

Norton Simon Museum
OK, heard enough of tke Getty Museum? Here's a lesser known and quality classic art center of greater Los Angeles that rivals the Getty in interior artistic display and exterior floral beauty.
It can be argued that the collection here at Norton Simon is more impressive than the well known Getty. Many of the most spectatcular works featured are sculptures from South Asia but like the Getty, the museum represents art in various forms and periods.
Norty has one of the best public garden areas of the L.A. area, flourished with over 50 varieties of trees and shrubs....oh, and the ponds are full of lillies- aw, how sweet!
Here's an insider tip: Come on the first Friday of the month from 6-9 PM for free admission!
Pics to come!
Another must see in Pasadena, the Norton Simon Museum houses the art collection amassed starting in the 1950s by Norton Simon combined with the collection of the insolvent Pasadena Museum of Art. It really is an extraordinary collection of art for a smaller museum featuring many works by Rembrandt, Goya, Picasso and Degas as well as other works spanning from the 14th-20th centuries by from Europe, America, Old Masters, Impressionists, Indian and Asian art.
