Ruby Skye Tips (7)

Ruby Skye / Sno-Drift: A touch of LA in the Bay (Union Sq / Potrero)

I put these two together because they sort of have the same flavor. They attract top DJ’s, many of them Bay Area favorites, and all the babies will be in full gear (intelligent threads). Different nights may very, but usually a house / techno music scene. Check out the website, they’ll give the up to date info, times. Plan about $20 when the say “TBD” for cover, rarely goes over, sometimes goes under.

Dress Code for shizzle on the tizzle. (shine the shoes)

Where the beautiful people go. A classy club in the heart of San Fran played good music and had an excellent pyrotechnics act in the club. Unfortunately drink prices went up as the night went on.

Butter is a funky bar that prides itself in serving white trash food, whatever that means. The DJs are pretty good. One night that I was there, a former MTV Real World cast member (New Orleans show; Brandon is his name I think) was also present.

After drinks at Butter, go dancing at Ruby Skye, which has techno music.

Ruby Skye

A decent club with lots of good-looking guys and gals, although the techno music may not appeal to everyone. It's a large place with a couple of dance areas, and best of all it's not too far away from Lori's Diner - the best 24 hour diner in town (at least, the best that I went to).

Dress Code Smart casual would be my guess, but I imagine you can pretty much get away with anything.

Ruby Skye: One of the city best night clubs

This is a high-end outlet located in the very heart of the downtown, close to the Union Square. The building where it is situated is a historic landmark - it was built in the end of 19th century and for many years has been a theatre. You can see this even today - the heavy Victorian style of the interior has been restored to great extent, the club has two levels and several areas of entertainment that could accomodate around 1000 visitors. The two bars are offering all types of alcohol and 4 types of draught beer (including Foster's and Pilsner Urquel), the bar staff is not very kind to the guests though. A lot of famous Djs visited and visit this place (Paul Van Dyk, Josh Wink, Tiesto and Sandy Rivera to name a few), but don't expect anything super extraordinary - it is just a good club with great location. The stamp system works in this outlet, you can go out and come back without any problems, I haven't witnessed getting in to be a problem as well since all the times when I have visited it the club was never too crowded. Prices for entrance and drinks are expensive, but this was communicated already by other VT members.

Ruby Skye: Divine

Opened in 2000. This is one of the hottest tickets in SF. The Dj's tend to be of the highest Caliber and the crowd always delivers.
