Every August the Ventura County Fair at the Fairgrounds in Ventura is California’s Coolest Fair and the only Fair on the West Coast located directly on the beach, where ocean breezes keep it cool.
There are carnival rides to take your breath away and the midway where you can try your luck and win a oversized stuffed animal. Eat your way through the fair: Corn on the Cob, Hot dogs, Wurst, Cinnamon rolls, fudge, cotton candy, curly fries or Australian battered potatoes are to name a few.
Shop 'til you drop at the exhibition hall, you can buy jewelry, hot tubs, garden items, car wax or grandfather clocks, what ever you choose it will be a lot of fun.
If shopping is not your bag take in the garden exhibits, or tour the photography and home arts exhibits.
Admission to the Ventura County Fair cost $10 for adults,
$6 for kids and seniors.
This collection of tourist shops, restaurants and night clubs is a good way to spend a few hours. It's basically a big tourist trap but provides a central location for numeous restaurants. Also on the island is the Channel Islands National Park Visitor's center.
Harbor Village is a cool shopping/dining experience overlooking the Ventura Harbor. There are also some very cool artwork displayed all over the place. This is an up and comer, its seems like it is still light in foot traffic. But it is still very appealing. Unique shopping/dining experience.
