Leesville Things to Do

  • West La Museum

If you have a little time to kill in town I suggest stopping by the West LA Museum on third street. There is no addmission and is a great little view of the development of the local area. It was once a train depot and if you time it right you can be there to witness a passing train, and listen to the rumbling of the tracks and hoot of the horn from...

  • Leesville Christmas Parade

If you are a winter traveler or happen to be in town around the first of December then take a little time to stay for the Christmas Parade. It was our first intro to leesville and when I first realized it wasen't such a bad place to move to. It was huge for such a small town . All the locals stopped and waved at us, no to mention it didn't take...

  • May Fest 1st Sat in May

For all those who missed the May Fest in historic downtown Lessville, let me tell you, you missed the reason small towns are still on the map. It was a great festival, with local crafters, vendors and smoking entertainment. Their were Cajin bands, country bands and dancers, all that in just the two hours I was there, There were live wood carving...

Leesville Restaurants

  • A thanksgiving turkey

I found this place by total accident, but wow! You see, three days before Thanksgiving my son desides he must have Turkey Now!!!! So we were calling every place in town looking for it. That of course was after we picked our jaws off the ground. ( William is four, and getting him to anything but junk can be rough.) And Jason ( husband) finds the...

  • Not lost on Los Moss

I have to tell you that this restaurant was a suprise. They had a friendly staff and average food but the price... Whatever! Los Moss is in a run down looking building attached to a bar. They have authintic food sure but the charge for things like refills on drinks. What kind of sit down place begrudges a extra drink with something spicey. I was...

  • Good Cheap Seafood

I know it sounds funny but to be honest there are not alot of dining choices in Leesville. And for the price you can't get better seafood especially since they started that new broiled menu. And of course The food is fast and they have a drive thru. I also find they have a really nice staff. They have good popcorn shrimp and I only like fried...

  • If you like to wait....

Wagon Master has good food I am not disputing that, but I feel compeled to warn you that its going to be a long wait. And I don't mean to be seated.... My husband and I have eaten at this restaurant on three seperate occasions and have left less then thrilled all three times. We were seated quickly, given peanuts, buiscuits and sodas. They promptly...

  • Other fast food in Leesville

There are several other fast food joints in Leesville, Such as McDonald- has a play place. Wendys -try their baked potato, Dairy Queen-accepts cash or checks! no plastic, Sonic- try the lemonberry slush, Burger king-has the best fries, Taco Bell-best mexican in town, and Popeyes chicken-My best Friend favorite.

  • Chicken With Personality

I was recently cleaning out my storage and needed boxes so I sent out my husband to the local fast food joints. He says he tried three that just blew him off, but on the way home he stopped at KFC as a last ditch effort. The manager was super nice and helpful. My husband was so impressed with the manager that we went back for dinner and have been...

Leesville Shopping

  • A quick stop in a cute shop

If you are looking for ideas for crafts or that one of a kind gift try Nichols. THey have a little bit of every thing. Crafts, hunting gear and home accessories. Not to mention candles and cookery. Its fun to just look around. Some items here tend to be pricey butu great for ideas. Keep an eye out for sales or items you haven't seen anywhere else.

  • Mallmart

There is a serious lacking of shopping here. Just the local Walmart, a couple of dollar stores, a few local clothing stores, and a radio shack. But you are in luck there is lots of shopping if you go 45 minutes north to Alexandria or 45 minutes south to Lake Charles.

    by jayshell00 Updated May 10, 2005

The reason you can't find locals on the weekends is because they love flea markets, yard sales and craft shops. Check out the Black Horse Mini mall or the flea market out on 171 across from the highschool. You might also try the Rabbit Patch , Nichols, or the Country Bumpkin

Leesville Off The Beaten Path

  • Hardware store on mainstreet

There is an old fashion hardware store on main street that carrys hard to find items like cornbread pans, and radio flyer products. They have hand crafts and also tools. I like just going in to look and reminice about our country stores in KY.

  • Third World Country Alert

I would warn that you should stay on the main roads not for safety but for sanity. Its an eye opening experiance, I wasen't accosumed to the sight of poverty. There are some homes here that don't appear any better that those of third world countrys. Out Pitkin Road it look like a Sally Struthers advertisement. The same if you cross the tracks in...

  • Don't Forget Insurance

If your current health insurance doesn't cover you while your abroad, you should consider getting international travel insurance just in case something should go wrong.
