Rockland Breakwater Tips (2)

Walk to the Breakwater Light

I have visited several lighthouses but find this has a most unique approach. It is a part of a city park and to get to the lighthouse you have to walk out almost a mile on a breakwater made of large pieces of granite. It was built in the 1800's using almost 700,000 tons of granite. The surface is smooth enough to make it an easy walk.

Visit the Rockland Breakwater Light

The Breakwater Light is at the end of an almost mile long breakwater made of granite. The Light dates to 1902 and is still operational. It is an active U.S. Coast Guard aid to navigation
