    I have never stayed overnight in Frederick (we seem to always passing through) so I can not give you first hand account. I can however give you the national crime statistics for this area.

    The crime stats rank Frederick as a higher crime risk than the average American town. The most frequent crimes are Assaults, Burglaries and Thefts. Normally those crimes seldom affect tourists during daylight hours, especially if the tourists use common precautions.

    Lock car door. Don't venture alone in unfamiliar neighborhoods or late at night. Ask the motel desk personnel about any areas they suggest that you avoid. Keep valuables in the motel safe and don't flash your cash. Blending in helps you to avoid being a target.
