The gallery originally served as the Packet Antiques and Country Store, opening in the early 1900s and running until 1999. After being taken over by Lloyd and Betty Godwin in 1964, it was revived in 2012 under the stewardship of Stan and Sandra Godwin, celebrating the region's rich artistic tradition.
