Petoskey Things to Do

  • Take a walk through Petoskey!

Petoskey is a great walking town as long as one is up to a few hills. There are a large variety of shops from a General Store to upscale shops. Additionally, they have an excellent selection of restaurants from Stafford's to deli's. The downtown are has a beautiful park for relaxing, enjoying the family or chilling out. There is a great pier on...

  • Crooked Tree Golf Course - Excellent!

We were extremely impressed with this golf course. It is in excellent condition from the fairways to the greens. Offering a varied terrain with many elevation changes it was fun and exciting. Players of all levels will find it demanding. We played on a Monday and had a very good pace of play. We enjoyed the dynamic challenges of its varied holes...

  • Newer Casino: Odawa Casino

Every visit to northern Michigan requires a stop in one of their various Casinos. For us it was Odawa Casino in Petoskey. This is a newer casino and is very spacious. Not like some of the old smokey casinos of the past. We got a $20 coupon when we checked into our hotel, which made it fun to gamble with "their money". For some reason we don't seem...

  • Historic & Delightful Pub

We happened on Mitchell Street Pub thanks to TripAdvisor. We liked the pub setting and all the memorablia. Fun to walk down memory lane. My salmon was great but my husband was disappointed with his whitefish. Service was good. They have an air system that has a constant humming sound. Guess I have extra sensitive ears. (more alcohol helped). Good...

  • Most of the towns in this area...

Most of the towns in this area are not 'party locations' so you simply need to look around for places that would interest you. There is a civic center where local plays are showed, we are in town on business many times so our time is limited to find all the hot spots.City Park Grill on East Lake Rd. may have entertainment. There is a bar called...

Petoskey Transportation

  • The best way to get to...

by jociep Written Oct 5, 2002

The best way to get to Petoskey is by car, and even that can be somewhat difficult. There is no major highway to Petoskey, although it's under an hour from I-75. No trains come up here anymore, but I think there may be a daily bus from Grayling (not sure though!). The nearest airports are Pellston ~30 min from town (flies through Detroit) and Traverse City ~90 min from town. I suppose if you were adventerous you could come here by boat, too! Tip: the drive on US-31 along the coast is beautiful!
Petoskey's not very big, so a car, bike, or just your feet will do. Rollerblading is illegal downtown, but the waterfront park is a great place to do that (as well as jogging and biking).

All shops in Petoskey are pretty speacial places , they are all differant and have many items to chose from , from woman and mens shopping to the best gifts to childerns toys , baby cloths , antiques to some of the best coffee and lunch spots .

What to buy: One special item that alot of people might buy is a "Petoskey" stone alot of stores have them and they are a rock that is only found in 2 spots in the world and of those spots is the bay in Petoskey . Check them out !

What to pay: Most od the stuff in Petoskey is a lil expensive , hence the view of the bay hahaha thats what most people will tell you , You want to stay and look at the bay then you will pay ! lmao . Oh maybe $5-$15 for a petoskey stone.

From Petosky you can drive to many other close locations such as Charlevoix, Harbor Springs, Traverse City and Bay Harbor, all of which have a charm of their own. Petosky is an old town with wonderful little finds, during our last visit I noticed the local drug store was named 'The Chemist Shop' as it was many...
