Caesars Palace Tips (23)

Free Entertainment

Favorite thing There is so much free entertainment around Las Vegas, that you really don't have to spend a cent on a show if you don't want to.

Desert Passage, which is in the Aladdin, has hourly entertainment starting at about 1:30 pm, and includes all sorts of very good acts that are of the Cirque du Soliel genre. At the other end of the mall is this duelling piano act that is quite entertaining. There is also a thunderstorm in the centre area, but I didn't happen to catch it.

Also, the Forum Shops at Caeser's Palace has free entertainment as well.

Just looking at the hotels and people watching also makes the time go by very quickly.

Favorite thing Visit CAESAR'S PALACE. There are all the restaurants and gambling halls you would want to visit here.
We had a LIMOSINE ride from the airport

Fondest memory Just walking around the gaming rooms. I did so at 5 AM. as I could not sleep the first night I was so excited. Eating in the many great restaurants at Caesar's. 'BUFFET ' 'ALL YOU CAN EAT' very good food and not expensive. Playing the slots. and the numbers games. Getting all that attention from a hostess who kept offering free drinks. Swimming in the great pool to relax after a day of visiting.

Checkout Caesar's Palace. It...

Favorite thing Checkout Caesar's Palace. It remains the most famous name, and is the one casino that all first-time visitors rush to see for themselves. Caeser's Palace changed the face of the Las Vegas Strip in 1967. With its Fall-of-the-Roman-Empire motif, this hotel/casino inspires theme-oriented gambling to this day. Its trademarks are the Italian fountains, statues, pavillions and the famous Forum Shops which were opened in 1992. This is a chic mall with a Roman market theme and a life-like blue sky with white billowy clouds. This sky has been copied in other newer properties like Paris and the Venetian. Keep your eyes open, you never know, you might just be rubbing shoulders with a celebrity. I caught a glimpse of Dennis Rodman here once. The photo was taken at the center of the Forum Shops.

Roma motif Forum fountain

Favorite thing This gorgeous fountain sculpture situated in a small "plaza" in the heart of the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

Fondest memory The ceilings of the Forum Shops are blue with lacy clouds and the light is altered. So that it appears you are enjoying an afternoon in Rome.

Nike of Samothrace Statue Copy

Favorite thing The Greek goddess of Victory, a winged woman standing on the prow of a ship, braced against strong winds of the sea....

Fondest memory The Nike of Samothrace (also known as the Winged Victory of Samothrace), a fine example of ancient Greek sculpture, was discovered in 1863.

The original statue has been erected to commemorate the victory of the Rhodians at Side against Antiochus of Syria in 190 B.C.

It is one of the greatest surviving masterpieces and also one of the most prized possessions of the Louvre in Paris.

Triton Fountain replica

Favorite thing The original Triton Fountain in Rome, Italy, designed in 1643 by Bernini, the greatest sculptor of the Baroque period, who was inspirated by a triumphant passage concerning Triton, from Ovid's Metamorphoses book.

Fondest memory Four highly detailed dolphin sculptures rise from the ocean and tangle their tails upward.
Triton, the minor sea god of Greco-Roman legend, is on the top of the fountain as a merman with a great scaly tail.

You will find the Triton Fountain replica near The Forum Shops of Caesar's Palace.

Favorite thing If is something you do really need in Vegas it's a good luck. This goddess of fortune and chance, and prosperity could help you with that. May be it's a reason why her sculpure is standing at the entrans of slot machines hall...

Fondest memory Caution! Fortuna might bring good luck or bad: she could be represented as veiled and blind and came to show life's capriciousness...

The Brahma Shrine

Favorite thing The Brahma Shrine located in the Roman Plaza at Caesars Palace Hotel Casino on The Strip, near the Serendipity Restaurant. It is an authentic replica of one of Thailand's most popular Buddhist shrines.

Some facts:
- Cast in bronze and plated in gold
- Weighs more than 8,000 pounds
- 14 feet high
- Formally dedicated on February 5, 1984 under the supervision of Buddhist monks
- The four faces of the Brahma statue represent Four Divine States of Mind: Loving Kindness, Compassion, Sympathy and Equanimity.

According to a Caesars Palace press release: "The original was installed more than 30 years ago at the Erawan Hotel in Bangkok to ward off bad luck after the hotel had suffered various disasters during its construction. Troubles were said to have ended after the installation, and the hotel enjoyed success. Through the years, the Thai shrine has also been associated with good fortune and prosperity."

It's really a nice quiet place on the Strip.

N 36° 06.946 W 115° 10.416

Fondest memory The plaques read:
"The Brahma Shrine is renowned throughout the far east, to people of all faiths, as a place of prayer which in turn bestows prosperity and good fortune on those who come to visit and make their hopes and wishes known."

'This four faced god has a reputation of granting wishes, particularly those asking for money and good fortune. And many of the gamblers coming to Ceaser's does that.'

Trevi Fountain

Favorite thing A replica of the fountain of Trevi is quite impressive and remarkable.

The original Trevi fountain is the largest Baroque Fountain in Rome (85 feet high and is 65 feet wide).

Back in the mid 1700s it took about 30 years to design and sculpt out of marble the original fountain.

Fondest memory With a large statue of Neptune in the middle who is riding on a shell, pulled by 2 sea horses guided by a Triton the fountain at Caesars may not be as classic as the original one but it's still worthy of notice.

Favorite thing ....browse in Cesars shopping mall, the Forum shops .
Note: The shops are NOT on the cheap side, but having a look at the vicinity is worth a visit, too. Look at the 'walls' here - they do look ancient!
