by mafootje Updated Apr 22, 2003

The yellows house in the background center was converted from a horse barn in 1830.

It is located on the iron plantation which was and is a major source of income of this area.

Later it became the home of Peter Smith.
Who he is ? I don't know... i am open for answers...

    Waterloo Village

by mafootje Updated Apr 20, 2003

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

As a part of a brewery festival in 1998 we went to Waterloo Village, a restored 19th century port town. Which is in the Allamuchy Mountain State Park and is a official National Historic Site.

The opening for the public was in 1964 the village is an authentical Early American Village.

There are three major parts in this village:

    a Canal Town

This is an example village during the mid to late 19th Century.

    Lenape Village

Which contains native american culture and history, which gives you an insight on the New Jersey native population.

    Rutan Farm

Here you get an examply of how early New Jersey farm life has been. How they grew crops, tend lifestock and fed a family without electricity and running water.

Visit the Garden State Craft Brew...

by mafootje Written Apr 20, 2003

This is the way how we got in contact with waterloo village.

It's an yearly event and costs about $22 dollars per person, we got a souvenir glas which could be filled for free.

There will be about 15 microbreweries which let you tast their beers.

We had a great day, money was wel spent.
