The Comedy Cellar if I remember rightly was in Greenwich Village. It was very dark and late.
Our tickets were to the late session of the Comedy show. They do at least 2 a night. Our show was about 11pm.
Anyway this place is supposed to be one of the funniest comedy bars in NY. Breeding ground of many a comedian. Stars such as Seinfield, Chris Rock, and Jon Lovitz have all been here.
Note you need tickets before hand. Don't ask me how much they were I don't know. I do though remember that ticket prices also include that you must purchase a minimum 2 drinks per person.
Anyway they herd the people into the tiniest of all basement clubs. Ignore the fact it seems unsafe to have this many people.
The show is a series of about 6 or so comedians. Some good, some well, not so good. Some of the humour is very American, very New York, so foreigners like me might sometimes be thinking not funny or miss a joke. But oh well it was an experience.
Dress Code Very casual.
The lesser known comedians are always funnier than the headliners, in my opinion. When we walked in to this comedy club that sat us at a packed in table with a few stangers, but it was fun none-the-less. If you're out going and talkative you can make some interesting friends. You all laugh together all night and share a few drinks. Since the cover charge is so cheap, you have to buy a minimum of two drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) while you're watching the acts. Of course the club is more fun if you can toss back a few drinks and let the laughs come. There are several bars to hit up when you get out, so don't be afaid to let loose and expect a late and hilariously memorable night.
Dress Code Casual.
