West Perry Off The Beaten Path
visit Silver Lake State Park
This is not one of the more popular parks but that is probably because it is not on the main highways and it is near the much larger and more developed and very popular Letchworth Park. But once you go here you will see that it has a lot to offer for its size.
There is a nice picnic area and fields that overlook the southern end of Silver Lake.
There is a boat launch for small portable boats, canoes and kayaks.
Fishing is allowed on the lake or from the shore in all seasons (if you have the proper licensing... call the number below for details and restrictions).
They allow limited hunting for certain species and only in certain seasons (again, call the number below for details).
There are some trails for hiking and trail-skiing. There is some birding done for the migratory water fowl but the lack of diverse bio-spheres in the park (mostly small trees and fields) makes it poor for any other species.
