Favorite thing: When you visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame, take your time with each and every exhibit. The entire Hall can be done in this manner over a period of about four hours.
The initial era of pro football is very interesting and the exhibits will hold your attention with short videos and memorabilia displays.
One thing that really caught my eye was the stunning display of a Hall of Fame enshrinement ring inside the Hall of Heroes where you'll also find all of the bronze busts.
The ring is really a hologram but you can actually try it on your finger to see how it fits.
There are some interactive skill activities that involve passing footballs and testing your knowledge of NFL trivia while competing with other visitors.
Of course the best time to visit is during annual enshrinement ceremonies. In the museum store you can purchase jerseys from every NFL team or Hall of Fame shirts honoring the latest enshrinees.

Fondest memory: Of course the easiest way to get to Canton would be flying into nearby Akron or Cleveland but I took the scenic route by first flying into Columbus then driving a rental car east and north through the Ohio countryside.
I spent two days in Columbus attending an Ohio State University football game and visiting the Columbus Zoo. Yet the main reason I flew into Columbus was so I could drive the country backroads into Amish country.
I had never seen Amish people before and in fact my first glimpse of the Amish was a family at the Indonesian orangutan exhibit in the Columbus Zoo! (The Amish were looking at the apes while I was staring at them.)
From Columbus I drove northeast on State Road 62 and then turned east on Route 39 before continuing north to Canton on Highway 77. The Amish are of course famous for getting around by horse and buggy. They wear old fashioned homemade clothing and their hairstyles resemble 18th century wigs. I passed a horse and buggy between Berlin and Walnut Creek and saw many bakeries and cheese shops with Dutch and Swiss themes.

How to get to Canton, Ohio

Favorite thing: The Akron Canton Regional Airport ( CAK ) is the closest and perhaps the best means of traveling to Canton. Located in the City of Green, it is only a short distance to the north of Canton and has fast and easy access to Interstate 77. The Airport is easily accessible, close to both cities ( Akron & Canton ) and provides facilities for both commercial and private pilots.
