I've been coming here for years and and always ordered some drinks and appetizers at the bar. During this particular visit to Newport we wanted a light lunch (after a morning of exploring) as it was late and we were having dinner a few hours later. We decided to grab a few drinks and something light here at the bar, but the bar was crowded, so we decided to sit at the dinning area.
This restaurant serves some typical pub-style dishes as well as a take of their own creations with a range of appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers and entrees as well as a raw oyster bar. They also have a nice long list of beers to choose from.
We settled into a booth, handed menus, water brought over and we eagerly perused the menu. After going back and forth, we decided on the two easiest items to share, the wings and the pizza. We each ordered a beer and chatted while we waited for our dishes to come out. After about 10 minutes the wings and pizza both came out together piping hot.
Service is good and the few items I've eaten here have been good. Prices are decent and with a big selection of items to choose from, this was an easy lunch pick. We'll come back and probably try something a little more exciting next time we're in Newport.
Favorite Dish Wharf Pub Wings $ 8.50
Margherita Pizza $13.50
Blue Moon $5.50
Our first visit here was after experiencing dissapointment at the food selection of the Food Festival we wandered into the Wharf Pub. We had a seat at the bar area. There was plenty of room in the dining room but we decided to relax and hang at the bar instead. I orderd a Magner's and Liz had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. We were having a good time enjoying each others company and awaiting for Liz's official birthday at 1:13pm. The bartender was very nice and kept our glasses full.
After some time we decided we needed a snack. We ordered the nachos. Minutes later this huge platter arrived. The chips were piled high with salsa, cheese, onions, beans, sour cream and tomatoes. This were the best nachos I have ever had! They were delicious and totally satisfying.
This was a comfortable place and we had fun watching football on TV and ineracting with some other patrons.
This has become a place that we come every tme we are in Newport for some drinks or a ite or two.
