Golden Shoe District Tips (1)

The Historical Golden Shoe District - shopping!

Most the 500 stores in downtown comprise the Golden Shoe district in southernmost downtown from El Paso Street, starting less than a block from the international bridge, to San Antonio Street and Overland Avenue and back down Stanton Street almost to the border. The merchants of yesteryears gave it its name because this place was sooooo lucrative…made money for a lot of people, getting it from people crossing across the border.

Nowadays, there just seems to be a lot of sign saying something is “on sale”.

There are two large stores – Holland’s which has reasonably priced brand labels and Starr Western Wear which sell all kinds of Western wear.
