Street directions are in relation to...

by schuminweb Updated Feb 4, 2003

The directional names (i.e. north, south, east, and west) on the main artery streets in Harrisonburg do NOT refer to the direction in which you're traveling! They refer to where the street is in relation to Court Square in downtown Harrisonburg. For instance, South Main Street means that part of Main Street is south of Court Square.

Harrisonburg Off The Beaten Path

  • A Casual Drive Trough The Resort...

We took a casual drive through the resort properites looking for 'building' ideas for a future retirement property. We found this jewel pictured. The owner has contracted a sculptor creating a 'grand entrance' to his estate.

  • Quick shortcut to Valley Mall...

Quick shortcut to Valley Mall from Port Republic Road - just past the Interstate 81 interchange going towards the apartment complexes, make a turn onto Forest Hill Drive (a Liberty gas station is at this corner as well). At the next stop sign make a left, and then as you follow the road you'll pass by James Madison University's Convocation Center...
