    Medicine Wheel National Historic Site

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: "Authorities" say the Medicine Wheel was built between 1200 and 1700, by an unidentified tribe of Indians, for either religious or astrological reasons. This means they really don't know. The area is steeped in mystery and is considered a sacred area by local tribes. It is well off the beaten path. You get there by traveling down a windy mountainous Highway 14A and then exiting onto an even more windy and mountainous dirt road. Then you hike up a steep trail to the site.

Fondest memory: This area really felt scared to me too. It was a strange but comforting feeling.
