You start to listen the night creatures around, the sky changing to another collor, the air gets cold, time to start a new kind of expedition, the meeting with the new inhabitants, the ones who slept during the day trips!
This is simple and you can do it by yourself...but a good guide is all! So you just get on the Transpantaneira and drive with a big light and you look for wildlife. We had the luck of doing a night safari with Marcelo which was really great in spotting animals! We saw crab-eating foxes (which he could make come very close to the truck), raccoons, deers, a river otter and a anteater scrolling around....
We did it also with our car at night and we saw a tapir. The fact is the most animals are nocturnal and if you are very lucky you can spot a jaguar or an ocelot...well, we haven't been lucky enough!!
In the Pantanal the only nightlife you have is the nightlife you create. We sat around a fire and had drinks. You are in the middle of the jungle and wetlands so there is nowhere else to go. It's great!
In the pantanal about the only nightlife is the company of other guests and the staff at the pousada bar. While the conversation is often entertaining, most people turn in by 11PM due to the fact that the best wildlife viewing takes place in the early morning and that is what the people are there for.
...midnight bath in one of the lakes close to the camp, enjoying the absolutely quietness under the light of the stars of Pantanal!
