Sooner or later you will find out that Brazilians are not the slightest crazy about Mexican food. Unlike the US, where Chilliýs branches pop in front of you before you can say tortilla, you will have a hard time trying to find a good Mexican restaurant in Sao Paulo and people will see you as an e.t. if you ask for one in Salvador.
Why is that? The first obvious reason is Brazil is much farther from Mexico than US and therefore much less influenced by its culture. Second reason is that Brazil has a strong culinary culture (yes, Iým talking about feijoadas, churrascos and other light local dishes) as well as a significant European influence on the main cities when it comes to restaurants.
But, if you are crazy about Mexican food, you donýt need to panic. There are a few good Mexican restaurants in Sao Paulo and El Kabbong Gril is one of them. It has been in the city for 7 years (a record!) with a bar and a full service restaurant. A good choice is ýLos 3 Amigosý: a combination of a cheese enchilada , a beef taco and a chicken burrito. For the veggies, the Burritos are good but wonýt make you feel any nearer to Frida Khalo.
