HELADO DE PAILA
This is interestingly a traditional Ecuadorean snack - ice-cream with the flavours mixed in a huge pan.

'Ceviche' are shrimps or fish served in a tangy sourish lemon juice or tomato sauce, mixed with onions, parsley and some spices. This is usually served in a bowl with a side dish of salty popcorn or fried plantains.

Alladin Restaurant: Best Shwarma's I've ever had!
Alladin is my all time favorite place to go. It sells hookas and has comfy couches. Yummy cold Pilsensers and the best Shwarmas ever! I've eaten so many in my life and nothing compares! Alladin is always my first stop when I go to Ecuador!

Las Nuestras: In Quito, don't miss the typical empanadas
If you travel to Ecuador and are the kind of typical food lover, like me, I highly recommend visiting Las Nuestras Empanadas Fast Food Restoran. Las Nuestras offers about 30 different types of Empanadas and delicious natural fruit juices (I recommend the Naranjilla Batido, just delicious!).
Favorite Dish: Typical empanadas from Ecuador include the ones that are best in this restoran: Morocho (hard to express for us gringos, just say MOROTJO so that guy understands what you want) Empanadas, Shrimp Empanadas and Carne Picante Empanada.Related to:

Creta (inside Mall Del Rio) Cuenca: Gourmet Food at Reasonable Prices!
The food at Creta is one of the best in Cuenca, well presented, delicious and reasonable. The atmosphere is posh and modern, with a bar area that is has very comfortable chairs you could sit in for hours. The tables, dressed with white linen are also nice as well as the service, attentive. This restaurant is a gem you don't expect to find within a mall.
Favorite Dish: The duck, our favorite, though probably the most expensive ($16.00) on the menu, but well worth the price if you enjoy the bird. It melts in your mouth, is very moist and seasoned well. My husband and I were very impressed, thinking "this chef knows what he's doing".Related to:

The climate and latitude of Equator are ideal for growing all kinds of tropical fruits: tree tomato, papaya, babaco, naranjilla, maracuya... Either as refreshing juices or as a snack, having a good dose of vitamines was never so tasty for me.Add to your Trip Planner

I would call this place (whose name I never found) : "El taller del artista" ! Indeed, an artist runs the place and has transformed this place in a huge artistic restaurant. Few people come here, and you can enjoy its width and peaceful atmosphere...
J'appelerai cet endroit (dont je ne connais toujours pas le nom) : "El taller del artista"! En effet, c'est un artiste qui tient le lieu et il a transforme cet espece de hangar en un superbe endroit pour dejeuner. Peu de gens semblent connaitre l'endroit et donc, on peut vraiment apprecier sa largeur et son atmosphere reposante...
Favorite Dish: 1 USD for a good "almuerzo" (lunch), you won't find it everywhere in Cuenca !
