Exceedingly average
8 days over the Chinese New Year in 2011.
Location was great but that's about it. The hotel needs a desperate refurbish as its getting a bit tired.
No heating in the lobby (therefore lobby bar) made catching up for drinks with friends impossible.
Definitely not up to Sheraton standards (even four points level would be too kind)

Superb!
If you don’t count Homeland Hotel in Chengdu, this was the first 5-star hotel I ever stayed in. And it was a splendid experience. Nice rooms with a splendid bed (according to our friend who works in this hotel the mattras as 999 springs), beautiful and clean bathroom with everything you need, amazing lobby, good dinner and breakfast with plenty of choice for people from all over the world,... .
Tip for people who are as naive as we are: the sauna is separate for men and women.

not a bad hotel
3rd time in Chengdu, stayed at the Sofitel, called weeks in advance whether possible to add an extra bed coz was going there with my sis and dad, lady on the phone told me that the rooms were too small for an extra bed but the beds were spacious enough for two to share
got there, yes the rooms were small and the beds, ... they are basically dorm bed size
other than that, this is one of the newest hotels in the city, concierge is competent, water pressure with toilets is problematic, but everything else was fine
would rate this the same as Sheraton (stayed 1st time at Crowne Plaza)

The hotel that makes you feel at home
I love this hotel. As I was on a business trip, I have to stay there for about five days but during these five days I really feel at home. The room was well-lited and comes with a lan cable so you can assess to the internet at the comfort of your own room. The staffare also very warm and friendly. Unlike typical Chinese restaurant which do not warn you when you over-order, the staff gently reminds us so we can order just enough portion.
Unique Quality: When you are there, you must try the food at the Chinese restaurant, the food is very nice.

One of the best, and centrally located
Sheraton Cheng Du Hotel
$200 per night. We were lucky to get a $70 per night for a non-smoking double room with a king size bed on 29th floor, booked on line through www.sheraton.com. We think that was a promotion rate as the hotel just opened. Everything could change.
Unique Quality: Newly opened 5-star hotel, with contemporary decor, very delighted. Great food, great service. Ask for a non-smoking room on higher floors so that you can see the city (most days are cloudy though :( ) Walking distance to Wen Shu Montach. Walking distance to bank to get cash (no way to use ATM with a foreign Visa in that city yet!). Walking distance to a very good supermarket Carafat (a French or German owned chain in China).

Sheraton Group of Hotels
One of the newer Sheraton hotels in China. For US$75 or so, it's well worth the price. It's located within walking distance from the city center (about 8 mins walk). However, don't worry about transportation in China, taxi fare is equivalent to bus fare in the States!
