what cost a visit to the sichuan opera? and how long take the show?

Depending on which opera you may go to , the time depends on the theme and how they play the parts. Most are over and hour to 1 1/2. It can be boring in you do not understand what is going on. I appriciate it more as I get older, price is 80-200 yuans...choice of seat. Cheers Tommy x

I was in Chengdu in 2006 so I don't remember the details. There are several you can go to. It was a fun experience for me and they had several acts in additional to the famous mask changing show.
I went to one in a tourist area and got tickets cheaper because a hostel was selling them below marked price. I was not staying at this hostel.

Jiu Zhai Gou is located in the South section of Min Shan mountain Range and there is great tributary in the Gully which is the water source of JiaLing River of the Changjiang river system, The mountain peaks are towering around and the snow summits are raising in the sky. The Gully is formed into a 'Y' type embraced by free mountains.There are 117 lakes in the gully both large and small which are distributed in terraced types. Between the lakes there are 17 waterfall groups and torrents in 11 sections and 5 calcification flowing shoals connected each other, which have formed into the natural Landscape with high mountain lake groups and calcification flowing shoals as the main body that is the only one China and rarely exists in the world. The Scenery is varied in four seasons.In the middle of the Spring, the green and the flowers are beautiful.In Summer the lakes are tranquil and mountains are azure In golden Autumn the trees are full of red leaves and in middle Winter the glacial cascades are in thousands. The green lakes,cascaded waterfalls,flowing shoals,color forests, snow peaks and the flirtatious expression of Zhang nationality as well as the animal and vegetation resources being richly endowed by nature are greatly favoured by people. In 1978, the Nine Village Valley was constructed as the national natural protection area. Man, One of the main reasons i had to come to China was to see these legends.
We had a magnificant time at the Panda breeding centre on the outskirts of Chengdu. Dont bother with the city zoo. Like alot of zoos in China it is quite depressing
When we were there we were lucky enough to see four sub adult panda cubs all running around and having a great time together. LOL alot more lively than the older pandas.
The best time to go is about 9am when they pandas are feeding but dont leave too early as the babies are fed again later in the morning
Now ive seen other people say it is 100RMB to cuddle a panda but it was 400RMB for us when we were there.
Also at the reserve you can see red pandas however they pale into comparison to their bigger brothers
Jinsha Nunnery

This much smaller nunnery is located just over the bust Luo Guo Xiang road from Aidao Nunnery. It was originally named Huaguang Monastery and was first built during the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (mid 18th century). A clay statue of Avalokitesvara with a 1000 hands and eyes with gold sand in her hands, used to be enshrined in the main hall. According to legend, in a fire during in 1861, Avalokitesvara manifested supernatural power to put out the fire. Thereafter, when the nunnery was expanded in 1863, the monastery was renamed to its current name.
