To get to the Big Banyan tree go out of Bangalore on the Mysore highway. About five kilimoters past Bangalore University you will see a sign for Banyan farm and Banyan Tree Club. Turn right and go eight kilomenters.
Do stop at the Banyan tree club for a lunch and swim. You can rent the bathing suits and towels.
Bangalore General Post Office was established in 1800. Initially, it was known as the Imperial Post Office and is a traditional colonial building. The interior is well worth a visit even if you're not planning on buying anything as it features a large wooden counter. The steps along the front feature some lovely pot plants and there's some lovely flowers in beds in a garden at the front.
Speed post, registered post, e-post, e-bill post, parcel, insurance, and telegraph facilities are available. It is located on Ambedkar Veedhi and working time is from 10:00 to 19:00 hrs from Monday to Saturday.
