Try cooking some local stuff. While on our mad shopping spree in Alleppy, we were invited to the kitchen of the bakery to see for ourselves the miracle called banana chips!!

Fish being the local delicacy in Aleppy, banana chips and home-made chocs is something you will find all over Kerala

"From Cochin to Alleppey"

We drove by a small motorcoach from Cochin to Alleppey where we boarded the housboat..We ended up in a 4 bedroom houseboat and spent the full day and night sitting back and enjoying the most beautiful scenery, eating delicious Indian food and watching the world go by..

"Stopping for Prawns"

A few times we stopped and got off the houseboat and walked along the shores, talked to some local people and bought some fresh prawns for supper!!

"Kerala Backwaters..."

The Kerala backwaters are a network of canals, rivers, lagoons and lakes and an important network for fishing, spice and rice...It is also home to communities of villages whose lives revolve around the water..As you cruise down these backwaters, you can watch the daily lives of all of these villagers...Washing clothes, doing dishes, walking their kids to school, etc..It is just fascinating to see...
